When summer arrives, you want to make sure your air conditioner is ready to keep your home nice and cool. The last thing you want to do is turn on your AC only to find that it’s not working properly.
After your air conditioner sits idle all winter long, it’s important that you perform a little routine maintenance to get it ready for summer. Here are 3 easy things you can do to get your air conditioner up and running efficiently this summer:
- Clean or replace the air filters—Clogged filters can hamper the performance of your system, making it harder to keep your home cool and leading to higher energy bills. Clear or replace your filters at least every 6 months.
- Clean the air conditioner condenser—Your air conditioner’s condenser unit, typically located outside, will often get various debris—such as leaves and dirt—trapped inside of it. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning your condenser unit.
- Make sure your coolant lines are properly insulated—Check your coolant lines to make sure they are all wrapped properly with insulation to keep them from losing energy.
